Preparations for the Project Hosting: Designing Sustainable Houses of the Future
As part of the preparations for the upcoming project hosting, the students completed two workshops aimed at acquiring the necessary knowledge for future collaborative work with partners from another country.
The first workshop, held on April 10th, was dedicated to learning 3D modeling skills. Using the Tinkercad program, students followed a video tutorial and mastered the basics of spatial planning in a digital environment, which served as technical preparation for more complex tasks.
Following the mastery of the program's basics, a second workshop took place on April 29th, where the task was to independently design and create an energy-efficient and sustainable house. Students had to think carefully about the smart use of natural resources and orientation in space. Using a wind rose to mark the cardinal directions, they planned the positioning of the houses, ensuring that the south-facing windows were large to maximize natural sunlight and heat.
When planning green technologies, students had to think critically and added only certain sustainability elements to their houses that they considered the best solution. Thus, they chose between solar panels, wind turbines, heat pumps, or rainwater collection tanks.
Through these activities, the students gained valuable knowledge and are ready for the workshop during the hosting, where they will work in teams with guests from the partner country to create such sustainable houses together.
Exploring AI Through Play – EU Code Week at Our School
See our application here 👇
From October 20 to 24, 2025, our first-year high school students and second-year Artificial Intelligence students participated in an exciting series of workshops during EU Code Week.
As an introduction to all sessions, we held engaging discussions on ecology, sustainable energy sources, and green building, exploring how technology and modern housing can work in harmony with nature. We also touched upon the foundational role of Artificial Intelligence in solving contemporary global challenges.
Following this introduction, on October 21, we held a specialized session for students actively participating in our ongoing project, focusing on the practical application of these concepts.
Using Machine Learning for Kids (ML4K) and Scratch, students explored how AI recognizes emotions in text. They:
-
Trained their own AI models by labeling sentences as positive or negative.
-
Tested the models to see how AI makes decisions based on the provided input.
-
Created interactive Scratch projects, such as a smart chatbot that smiles at positive messages and shows empathy when detecting negative ones.
The workshop helped students understand a key concept:
👉 AI is only as smart as the data we teach it with!
This hands-on experience allowed students to combine coding, creativity, and AI, giving them a fun and practical introduction to the world of artificial intelligence and its potential for a sustainable future.
Erasmus Days 2025 – a day full of good vibes and European spirit!
See our application here 👇
Our Erasmus Days took place on October 17, 2025, and the atmosphere was amazing!
Our school’s project coordinator, Željko Štanfelj, introduced the students to the new project, as well as the partner schools and countries involved, giving everyone an exciting glimpse into the upcoming opportunities.
After that, students who have already taken part in Erasmus+ mobilities shared their impressions, memories, and the funniest moments from their journeys. Their stories truly inspired everyone who’s dreaming about their first mobility experience!
Later, it was time for a pub quiz – full of laughter, cheering, and team spirit!
First-year students discovered fun facts about the Erasmus+ programme, European countries, and cultures through play and friendly competition – and maybe even started planning their own future adventures.
It was a day filled with positivity, curiosity, and togetherness – just the way Erasmus+ should be!
Promoting Our Erasmus+ Project: Launch and Activities
Article on the skole.hr 👇
To promote our new Erasmus+ project to a wider audience, an article about the project launch was published on school.hr, Carnet's national educational portal that connects teachers, students, and schools across Croatia.
The article presents the main goals of the project, the partner schools and countries involved, and the activities that will take place during its implementation. By sharing the story on such a widely used platform, we hope to inspire other schools and students to take part in international cooperation, explore new opportunities, and experience the benefits of Erasmus+ firsthand.
This publication also marks an important step in raising awareness about the value of teamwork, intercultural exchange, and learning beyond classroom walls – all key ideas at the heart of the Erasmus+ programme. 🌍✨
