Students and Teachers from three partner schools took part in a mobility program in Lubsko
Day 1: Opening Ceremony and Welcome Activities
On the first day of the project, the opening ceremony began with welcoming remarks from Principal Svjetlana Kalpić and Project Coordinator Željko Štanfelj. Professor Podobnik and our newly formed tamburica ensemble entertained the guests with lively performances, playing an unforgettable mix of domestic and international hits.
Participants then took a guided tour of our school and visited Valpovo’s key landmarks, including the historic Prandau-Normann Castle and the Museum of Valpovo Heritage.
In the afternoon, students broke the ice through the "Shield Game" workshop, led by Prof. Tihana Weigand, which helped everyone get to know each other. This was followed by an engaging pub quiz hosted by our 4th-grade student, Julianna Popović, testing their knowledge on the core project themes: STEM and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, the teachers held their first official project meeting.
Day 2: Smart Home Design & Exploring Kopački Rit
The second day kicked off with an engaging hands-on workshop on smart home design using Tinkercad, held in the computer lab under the expert guidance of Prof. Boris Puljek. The students enthusiastically designed their dream homes, showcasing their creativity and technical skills in remarkable ways.
The afternoon was reserved for an excursion to Kopački Rit Nature Park. After a short train ride through the park, participants boarded a solar-powered boat for a scenic cruise. Guided by an expert tour in English, they discovered fascinating facts about the rich flora and fauna inhabiting this unique wetland preserve.
Full of great impressions, everyone returned to Valpovo to enjoy a relaxing free evening.
Day 3: Eco-House Workshop and Relaxation at Salaš Kutica
The third day was dedicated to creative teamwork and relaxation at Salaš Kutica. The morning began with an interactive workshop led by our 4th-grade students, Julianna Popović and Ema Šut. Building on the previous day's digital concepts, students worked in the same pairs to translate their vision of a sustainable home onto paper poster boards. While they were encouraged to recreate their Tinkercad designs, they also had the creative freedom to add new eco-friendly features, showcasing their understanding of sustainable architecture through vibrant freehand drawings.
After the workshop, the rest of the day was reserved for casual relaxation and sports. Salaš Kutica offers various sports courts, so some students and teachers occasionally played volleyball, basketball, or football, while others preferred relaxing on the charming benches and swings. The nearby small lake was a particular favorite of the Polish team. Surrounding themselves with the serene atmosphere of the farm, everyone enjoyed a wonderfully laid-back afternoon together.
Day 4: Student Presentations and an Osijek City Excursion
The fourth day began at school, where student pairs—each consisting of a visiting student and one of our local students—presented the creative projects they had developed during the week's workshops. It was a inspiring showcase of teamwork and student creativity.
In the afternoon, the group set off for Osijek. The trip started with an action-packed session at the Laser Tag Arena, followed by some free time. Later, everyone joined a guided walking tour led by our guide, Marina. They explored the majestic Co-Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, walked along the scenic Drava River promenade, and wandered through Tvrđa, the historic Old Town, learning fascinating stories about Osijek’s rich history.
To round off the day, the group headed to the Portanova shopping center for some leisure time and shopping before returning to the hotel in high spirits.
Day 5: STEM Kahoot Quiz, Tree Planting, and Farewell Celebration
The final day of the project unfolded at a relaxed pace, focusing on project themes, lasting symbols, and celebration.
The morning kicked off with an engaging STEM and sustainability-themed Kahoot quiz organized by 2nd-grade student Filip Katalenić, testing participants' knowledge on the core subjects of the week. Following the quiz, students and teachers gathered in front of the school to plant a tree together—a practical gesture of environmental responsibility and a lasting symbol of the international friendships formed during the mobility.
The program concluded with the awarding of certificates, a group photo session, and an evening farewell event at Vila Valpovo, wrapping up five successful days of learning and collaboration before the guests departed for home.
